Defenders of the Earth
"In time of Earth’s greatest need, eight warriors were chosen for the task. Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Wood, Metal, Lightning, and ice. The Defenders of the Earth. Alone, they are weak. Together, they form a great force of good–a force far greater than any that ever walked this Earth."

Shane McJohn- A 17-year-old college freshman at Hope University, Shuster Field, Florida. Majoring in English, he loves poetry, reading, debate, etc. His alter-ego is Terra (Latin for Earth). He can create earthquakes by stomping his feet, striking the ground with his mystical sword, screaming a very high-pitched scream, or by emmiting a sonic boom by concentrating his attention and powers.

Patricia Agassi- This girl truly deserves the element assigned to her. A fiery, young girl, born to a rich Portuguese family. Her alter-ego is Dragonaire (Dragon Lady in the ancient Terran language). She can shoot fire from her eyes, mouth, and hands, has the ability to manipulate fire,
can ignite herself without being burned, can pass through fire without getting burned, and she can transform herself into tongues of flame.

Jessica Jones- Shane’s love-interest. She possess the power of the wind. Her alter-ego is Amihan (borrowed from Philippine Mythology) the East Wind. She can command the winds; both hot and cold. She has the power of flight, and invisibilty.

Gabrielle Enders- Gabby is Jessica’s best friend. She possess the power of water, and her alter-ego is Aspene (also borrowed from Philippine mythology).
Xander Crew- The possessor of the power of wood. He can command all plant life and animal life. Also, he can manipulate everything that has to do with wood. His alter-ego is Hunter.

Tristan Dempsey- Posseses the power of metal. His only power, however, his super strength, and the ability to wrap himself in armor. His alter-ego is Paladin.

Barbara Danners- Barbie posseses the power of ice. She can freeze anything in her path, and her ice arrows feeze anyone or anything it hits. Her alter-ego is Polaris (from the word "pole" suggesting the North and South Poles).

Justin Summers- This guy possesess the power of lightning. His abilities include manipulating electricity, calling down lightning from the sky, controlling the weather, and the power of speed and flight. His alter-ego is Spark.

Raymond White- Raymie was once a part of the enemy forces that constantly held our heroes at bay. He has the power of shadow, and he can confuse his opponent by enveloping him in a dark mist.
Xander Crew- The possessor of the power of wood. He can command all plant life and animal life. Also, he can manipulate everything that has to do with wood. His alter-ego is Hunter.

His alter-ego is the Shadow Phantom. First, a villain, he was a very potent tool against the defenders. But he fell in love with Barbie Danners, and love turned him to the side of good.

Try something different for the ‘2nd tier’ like Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter (power to cause new growth, to sustain, to decay, and to preserve)

I remember the first episode of Captain Planet - which I figgered was gonna be cheesy anyway because Ted Turner was involved.
