i know they hunt through smell but my tank has a slight smell to it, i cant tell what it is, but will this alter my goby’s ability to find food?
its not an overwhelming smell but if you open the lid and smell it its there
and should i use something on it that will remove the smell?
no harsh chemicals, there is a green spotted puffer in there

i think the smell may be to my new bogwood, how can i tell?
all aquariums have a bit of an earthy smell. it should not effect his ability to find food. the tank is probably small enough for him to find the food without having to ‘hunt’ it. if the smell is noticable you should do a water change and keep up on your regular weekly water changes. also, just to add, i’m pretty sure that a puffer and a goby should not be kept together.
