What do you call those word games where where cryptic clues are given for you to guess a word?

An example would be ‘a place in england cooking vessels’ and the answer would be ‘Prestonpans’.
But its not in a grid or anything…

Cryptic Crosswords - that’s always what I’ve called them.

Edit again: I don’t think there’s a particular name for them - just generally known as word games, cryptic clues or anagram puzzles.
