He didn’t necessarily know what his client did with that advice, and couldn’t elaborate at any great length about that advice or his client’s stated intentions. There’s that pesky little thing called the common law, which ordinarily prohibits attorneys from revealing the discussions with his client. Same rule applies for husband and wife.
